Dear Classmates,
I hope this email finds you well. Our 60th anniversary reunion is almost here --- only 22 days away.
Unfortunately, for various reasons we will all not be in attendance, but I am sure we will all be there in spirit.
I want to give you a recap of the Class of 1964 Endowment Fund.
Present Value $120,491.53
Withdrawal for Student Assistance $ 17,443.66
The funds are co-mingled with the other Alumni Association funds and invested.
Each year the Alumni Association withdraws a percentage from its cumulative class funds and named endowments for the purpose of assisting the Maritime College students. Our contribution to student support since the initiation of the Class Endowment has been the $17,443.66 noted above.
This year’s appeal to date has netted $6,000.00 from nine classmates*. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can substantially increase contributions. Don’t forget as a nonprofit corporation, donations to the Alumni Association, as a (501 (3) (c) corporation, are Federal Government tax exempt. Note that donations can be made directly from various retirement and investment funds to the Maritime College Alumni Association thus avoiding paying taxes and then filing for a donation exemption at the end of the year. Make sure your donation is properly identified as for the Class of 1964 Endowment Fund. The checks (or credit card info) should be mailed to the Maritime College Alumni Association, 6 Pennyfield Avenue, Bronx, NY 10465.
Thanks to Mary O’Neill, our webmaster, the webpage (https://www.maritimereunion64.com) is now updated. Check it out! Thank you, Mary, for the many hours you dedicated to this project! The site reflects all your hard work and recaps our 50th and 55th anniversary reunions with many photos’ complements of Steve Richter’s, Labor of Love Productions. Thank you, Steve, for your unbelievable dedication in bringing these reunion memories alive!
Keep well,
Jose
*- If you want to confirm that your donation to the Alumni Association was properly credited to the Class of 1964 Endowment Fund, please contact me at [email protected].
** All our reunion and Homecoming information is on our website. Rick and Joy did a yeoman’s job in planning all these details.
