FORT SCHUYLER 60th REUNION HURRICANE CLASS OF 1964
AGENDA FOR THE WEEKEND
October 18 - 20, 2024
FRIDAY:
Classmates will be arriving at the hotel at various times throughout the day. We have a hospitality room for the weekend (Lyndhurst Room on the second floor), near which we have asked the hotel to put all classmates rooms. It will be open around 3pm on Friday and all weekend for us to gather to find each other. The hotel Crossings Restaurant/Lounge/Bar is quite large and can accommodate many at dinnertime. As we get registered and settled we can be found gathering between the restaurant/bar and our hospitality room any time from mid afternoon through the evening until???
SATURDAY:
Breakfast: In the interest of saving time, most of us are planning to have the buffet breakfast at the hotel (opens 0700), since we have to be at the Fort for 0930 for the class picture. (The other option is the preregistered breakfast ($25/pp) at the Fort which is at 0830).
0930 Class picture at the Pentagon flagpole, after which we will muster in the Inner Gorge to
march in as a class. It takes about 45 minutes from the hotel to Fort. Parking will be in lots 9 and 10.
1030 March in: in uniform of the day: Blue jacket, tan pants, shirt and tie plus hat we will provide caps.
Lunch: Choices for lunch are a cafeteria style lunch at the mess deck, (was pretty good with lots of choices last reunion), or food trucks on the premises. As a last resort you may also want to try the "VOUS". Could be crowded (good food), or bring your own picnic lunch.
The balance of the afternoon is open. It is a good time to tour the Fort, and Jim McNamara's wonderful Maritime Museum. Also, see the School Homecoming Brochure, sunymaritime.edu/alumni, for additional activities including Regimental Review on Reinhart Field 1330 (we opted not to participate).
BACK AT HOTEL:
In an effort to keep the high cost of hors d’oeuvres, drinks and bartender fees down, and in consideration of how many classmates do not drink anymore, we declined to have a “cocktail hour” for this reunion. Instead, if you wish to, we will gather around 1730 in our Lyndhurst Hospitality Room. You can BYOB, or purchase a drink at the bar downstairs. Ed said he would have a cooler of beer, Eileen was going to bring cups/napkins and some munchies. We all can drink and chat before dinner.
Blank place cards will be available at this time for anyone who wants to reserve seats to sit with specific classmates. Dinner tables will have numbers on the tables to facilitate this.
1900 Dinner:
Dinner will be in the Westchester Ballroom. There will be a portable CASH BAR so bring cash as you cannot charge drinks to your room or use a credit card in the Westchester Ballroom. Soft drinks and water are free all evening.
A microphone will be available all evening for anyone to enlighten us with a short ditty!
While our Chief of Productions, Steve Richter, is not going to be able to attend our reunion, after dinner, we are attempting to fill his shoes to again be entertained by "Steve Richter Video Productions, Inc!” He has offered us help from his headquarters in Florida! (Steve has been struggling with various health issues this year. We are going to miss him and Bonnie so much!).
2300 Adjourn to the Restaurant/Lounge and/or Lyndhurst Hospitality Room for more sea stories.
SUNDAY:
0900 Breakfast and last chance sea stories in the hotel restaurant.
1200 Checkout and hugs/ goodbye's for those not staying until Monday.
BE SAFE AND WELL UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN....................................
P.S. Send any and all new sea stories to Mary, the Webmaster!

From Rick Kisling:
Breakfast is being served for Homecoming at the school library on Saturday 10/19/2024, starting at 0830 for a $25 pp fee and you must register beforehand. See below for registration as well as parking info for lots 9 &10 at the Fort.
The other alternative.... Joy and I are going to eat breakfast at the Marriott hotel (the buffet to save time), for approximately the same price. The hotel restaurant opens at 0700 on Saturdays. They have a buffet as well as an ala carte breakfast. Go early as we are not the only hotel guests. If you eat at the hotel, plan on being at the Fort around 0930 when pictures start. It will take approximately 40 minutes,(depending on traffic) from hotel to the Fort. Plan on parking in lots 9 & 10 at the Fort.
For those planning to show up at the Fort on Saturday morning Oct.19. The uniform of the day to "march in" is khaki pants, dark blazer, shirt and tie. Joy will hand out the hats before pictures are taken in the Pentagon
starting at 0930. The scheduled "march in" starts at 1030.
If you have paid to attend, I will order a hat for you on 9/3/2024. Otherwise, you MUST contact me by Tuesday, September 3. ([email protected]), 203-748-6351. If you just want a hat and will be at the march-in, please send me $20 and contact me by 9/3/2024.
Lastly, you can still reserve a hotel room and send a check to me to attend the dinner until September 27th. You can always bring your hat to march in from last reunion!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR to the HURRICANE CLASS of 64!
Your reunion Crew may have a few barnacles but Ed Ryznar, Steve Richter, Joy/Rick Kisling, Jack/Mary O'Neill and Jose/Eileen Femenia, have gotten up the stamina to do our 60th reunion.
We have placed a non-refundable deposit of $1500, with a 45- person minimum guarantee, for our dinner reunion weekend at the Westchester Marriot Hotel.
Our 60th reunion is October 18 to October 20,2024- same as the Fort Schuyler Homecoming Weekend!
We are hoping everyone will be able to be with us for this one because we are guessing that any future reunions will probably be just a gathering at/near the Fort for whoever can make it.
Place: Westchester Marriot- 670 White Plains Road, Tarrytown.N.Y.10591
Phone: 914-631-2200. The Marriot is 23 miles/35 minute from the Fort, just up the road from our old Renaissance Hotel which was shut down due to Covid.
Inflation has taken a bit of a toll but please know that all decisions have been made to keep the cost as low as possible. Here are the details. The fee is $225 per person, $450 per couple - includes a great time with old, old friends, a banquet dinner Saturday night, a hospitality room all weekend, and a hat. (Include an extra $20.00 if you would like an extra hat.)
Make checks out to H. Kisling, 9 Colonial Drive, Bethel, CT, 06801. In the memo section of the check, write "60th Maritime Reunion."
We are holding 40 rooms at the Westchester Marriot- first come first serve.
Book your own rooms using Reference # M-R62JXV1- Maritime Reunion at 914-631-2200 or 800-882-1042 or click this link. Rooms can be held up to 24 hours before arrival, with no penalty, at a special rate of $189. The Hospitaly Room is on the Second Floor.
The "Plan of the Day" for the weekend will follow as we get closer and get more info from the Fort. We expect to follow much the same format as our last two reunions.
Hope all are well and will have a Healthy New Year until we meet again.
We are looking forward to seeing you ALL this year.
