Spring is finally coming our way in the Northeast. We are all VERY tired of winter. No comment please, from you guys in the South!!!!! This May update is mainly to remind everyone of things to do regarding our upcoming 50th reunion weekend. FIRST!!! we want to urge you to look through your pictures/slides and get them to Steve Richter. He is working hard to prepare a SLIDE PRESENTATION for the weekend. HIS DEADLINE IS JUNE 30TH. He can’t complete his project without your help!! [email protected], 1574 Gadsden Place, The Villages, FL 32162. Phone 352-751-7437. THE ENDOWMENT FUND: Jose Femenia is managing that and the total at present is $9,750. The goal is $25,000 from our class. We still have a ways to go. Jose says that it doesn’t take a BIG donation. If we all give $250, we can easily surpass our goal, although more would be nice if you can. See the website for all information. http://maritimereunion64.weebly.com/endowments.html THE JOURNAL: Joy Kisling is still waiting for your biographical and contact info (even if you don’t plan to attend) to include in the journal she is preparing for the weekend. She has been able to locate everyone but five in our class and says thanks to the 20 that have sent their bios in and is wondering if the rest of the class has been lost at sea????? [email protected], 9 Colonial Drive, Bethel, CT 06801. Phone 203-748-6351. HOTEL RESERVATION AND DINNER CHECKS: If you wait with the hotel reservations, you might end up at a different hotel. There will be another class (1969) at the hotel that weekend in addition to our class. Make those reservations and send your dinner check to Rick Kisling, 9 Colonial Drive, Bethel, CT 06801. (“Schuyler Class of 64 Reunion”), $150/1, $300/2. LAST: Mary O’Neill has our website perking http://maritimereunion64.weebly.com PLEASE CHECK IT ALL OUT, especially the “Just for Fun” page. Many classmates have submitted funny memories to her for that page and many of you are mentioned by others, so get back at them with your own tales of their shenanigans. It is great! She awaits your ditty. If you haven't been to the website recently you should check out ALL of the links. A lot has been added. In addition to the 'Just For Fun' pages mentioned, we have been working with Joe Williams, our own Maritime College historian and author who has digitized all of the issues of The Porthole during our years at Maritime. Many thanks to the Stephen B. Luce Library for their generosity in allowing us to use the files. They are fun to read and will bring back many memories. See this newly created page here: http://maritimereunion64.weebly.com/the-porthole.html and if you know of an issue where you are pictured or mentioned, send the page information to Mary [email protected] who will be happy to include it on our site. We look forward to hearing from you if you have not already checked some of the above things off your list. Ed, Jose, Jack and Rick |
